Rhapsody announced today that their subscription music service app has been approved by Apple, making it the first of its kind on Apple’s App Store. The application allows for 64kb/sec streaming audio and access to Rhapsody’s 8 million song catalog. New users are encouraged to try the service free, for 7 days. Anything beyond that will cost you $14.99 a month. The cost of the App itself? Free.

Looks like what a lot of iPod Touch users have been waiting for might finally be coming. Engadget has a few images of a new iPod Touch with a camera posted and they look pretty authentic. If  Trip Chowdhry of Global Equities Research is to believed, Apple’s upcoming tablet computer should sport an 8 to 10 inch OLED screen. That sure sounds good on paper, but it translates into a much higher price tag. When does he think it’ll ship? First quarter 2010. Wired has more.

Splinter Cell: Conviction might have been a little too ambitious for its own good. Ubisoft announced today that the game would slip past its late 2009 launch windows and hit March 2010 instead.  Good news for those who want the game to be as best as it can be. Bad news for everyone else.

Microsoft officially started rolling out Xbox Dashboard update previews today to a lucky few. Why should you care about the update? Netflix is getting a dozen or so new features. The new Xbox 360 Game Marketplace is going to enable people to buy full 360 games and download them right to the hard drive. ( you might need a bigger HD $$)  What exactly does this preview include? We aren’t exactly sure yet. The NXE update is due later this year.

Title says it all. Take Two announced today that Bioshock 2 would officially be delayed until fiscal 2010. “We felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve”, a quote from the original press release indicates a less than optimal performing game.
Take-Two later clarified that Bioshock 2 would see the light of day sometime in the first half of 2010. Official press release can be found here.

Google finally went ahead and did it. Today, they announced that they are working on a competitor to go up against Microsoft’s own Windows operating system. The first form of the OS is currently set to debut on Netbook computers, then later on full on desktop computers. As good as Windows 7 looks, I’m hoping Google can deliver something better.

Splinter Cell Conviction took E3 audiences by storm earlier this month. Dazzling graphics, extremely dynamic gameplay, and Ubisoft Montreal being behind the project excites us. One question that hasn’t quite been answered is whether or not the game is exclusive to the 360, or just a timed exclusive. Ubisoft and Microsoft representatives continue to claim it’s as exclusive to the 360 as MGS4 is to the PS3. We’ll have to wait and see. Splinter Cell Conviction is due out later this year.

With the opening of Guitar Hero 5′s new website comes word of an official release date, September 1, 2009. Why should you be excited? This year, Guitar Hero 5 will include a new “Party Play” mode which gives any person in the party the option to play any instrument they want. Everyone wants to play the drums? No problem. More than one guitarist? Go ahead. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
